UNCP Pembroke Singers invited to perform at the North Carolina American Choral Directors Association Conference October 7, 2017, in Raleigh, NC.
Pembroke Singers is the select chamber choir at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and represents the university at major functions. Under the direction of Dr. Jaeyoon Kim, Pembroke Singers has actively presented choral concerts in middle schools, high schools, and churches throughout the region. In the past several years, Pembroke Singers has performed international concert tours in Puerto Rico and Mexico, where the group was invited to perform at the University of Mexico’s 1st Intercollegiate Choral Festival in Mexico City in February 2017.
NC ACDA is part of the American Choral Directors Association, one of the world’s largest professional organizations for choral musicians with a membership of over 18,000 directors representing one million singers. The mission of NC ACDA is to invest in the development and growth of the choral arts through exceptional experiences in artistry, innovation, diversity, and leadership.
The Pembroke Singers, UNCP’s audition chamber choir, received an invitation from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Méjico UNAM (University of Mexico) to perform at their 1st International Collegiate Choral Festival. For this festival, February 2-6, 2017, the Pembroke Singers shared the stage with choirs from Cuba, Colombia, Argentina and Mexico.
