Sexual Assault Advocate

Lauren Rodefeld

Lauren Rodefeld, North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPCS), serves as the primary sexual assault advocate for The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP).  In her role with UNCP Counseling and Psychological Services, Lauren chairs the SMART (Sexual Misconduct Advocacy and Resource Team) committee, instructs the women’s RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) class, collaborates in by-stander intervention programming, and counsels students with a variety of mental health concerns.  Prior to UNCP, Lauren served community mental health for 9 years working with trauma survivors.  She earned a Masters of Education in Community Counseling from Clemson University.

Lauren provides confidential support services to students who have experienced sexual misconduct, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and/or harassment.  She assists both survivors and the accused in accessing campus and community resources. Lauren is also available to attend university adjudication proceedings as needed, and offers a comprehensive information packet for survivors, the accused, and campus stakeholders. These services are free and client-centered thus enabling individuals to decide for themselves the best course of action for their particular circumstances.
