  • Favorite thing about your job? My job is truly inspiring. The ability to promote individuals to obtain an Adult High School Diploma or HSE Certificate is truly gratifying.

  • If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I have always wanted to learn American Sign Language (ASL).

  • In what ways were you involved in campus life as a student? I cheered for UNCP for four years, and was a part of Students In Free Enterprise (S.I.F.E.)

  • Why did you choose to attend UNCP? It was a family tradition. My mother (Jeanne’ 73), father (Mike’70), and brother (Michael ’00) attended UNCP. The close proximity to home was extremely enticing. I also liked the student-teacher ratio.

  • Favorite UNCP memory? Attending the National SIFE Conference in Kansas City and cheering at the NCAA National Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla., were two of my fondest memories.

  • Advice to prospective UNCP students?  Appreciate your time at UNCP. Four years seems like a long time as a freshman. In retrospect, those four years were amazing and went by so fast. Enjoy the small town and appreciate the faculty and staff at UNCP. I am still in contact with numerous professors. Not only have they provided sound professional advice, I have also had the opportunity to work with a few. It is an amazing feeling to study under them and then work alongside of them.

  • Advice to UNCP Alumni? Make time to visit. I have not attended UNCP in seven years, however the institution has grown immensely. The new Bookstore, new residence halls in addition to football, which was being implemented right after I graduated, are things that warrant a visit. It is a great feeling to know that the institution that I attended is prospering.

  • How did attending UNCP shape your life? UNCP provided a sound basis for a strong education in addition to providing me with wonderful memories of friendships and accomplishments that have all helped me become who I am today. UNCP also enabled me to meet numerous individuals, who generated connections that will last a life time. Not only did UNCP make me aware of my abilities, it was there that I saw the true meaning of: “hard work will pay off.” I am proud to be a BRAVE!
