The UNCP women soccer team’s season was over after suffering a 3-1 loss to Columbus State on Nov. 7.
Kiana Nicholson was a nightmare for the Black and Gold’s defense as she went off for a hat trick.
She scored goals in the 20th minute, 32nd minute and on a penalty kick in the 88th minute.
Katie Watkins scored the only goal of the match for the Lady Braves in the 77th minute.
The loss moved UNCP to 2-15-1 all-time against Columbus State and 0-7 when facing off against them in the PBC tournament.
This was Columbus State’s 15th straight win, but they followed this up by defeating North Georgia for the PBC championship.
Columbus State kept the pressure on UNCP goalkeeper Janae Aiken to the tune of 16 shots. Nicholson accounted for half of those. Watkins, Courtney Crump and Lovisa Gustafsson each had a single shot for the Lady Braves.
Rae-Shawna Campbell finished the season tied for the fourth most goals scored in the PBC with 12.
UNCP had four players in the top 10 of the PBC for most assists: Amber Watkins had 10, Crump had eight and Campbell and Savanna Stiles each had seven on the season.
Aiken had the fourth-most saves in the PBC with 94 and had the second-highest save percentage at .839.
Campbell also had the fourth-most shot attempts on the season and tied for fourth-most points in the season among all PBC players.
UNCP ended the season with a 11-5-3 record.
They actually had a better record on the road than at home.
They were 5-4-1 at home and 6-0-2 when playing on the road.
