Staci Johnson assumed duties of the University Bursar on December 17, 2007, at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
The Bursar’s office is responsible for student accounts and some student loans as well as cashier duties for the University and is a unit in the Office of the Controller.
Johnson attended UNCP and graduated from Campbell University with Bachelor and Master of Business Administration degrees. She comes to UNCP from the North Carolina Division of Public Health’s Raleigh Children’s Developmental Service Agency (CDSA) where she supervised business functions including budgeting, billing, reimbursement, physical plant and administrative support staff.
Prior to her employment with the CDSA, she worked in the Raleigh, N.C., Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Controller where she supervised medical services accounts payable for multiple public health programs.
“This is my first experience in higher education.” Johnson said. “I am enjoying the experience and environment.
“I enjoy working at UNCP because the culture is very student oriented,” she said. “The staff is helpful and compassionate.”
With the goal of earning her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure, Johnson said higher education fits well into her career and future plans.
A Hope Mills, N.C., native, Johnson was employed for 12 years at the Fayetteville Ambulatory Surgery Center in Fayetteville, N.C., working her way up from receptionist to assistant office manager.
