About

H. Jay Blauser and the rest of the Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) team, under guidance of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Facilities Management, work to manage the University's capital project coordination (CPC) process, which includes all construction, renovation and related capital improvement contracted activities. He also serves as the campus's project officer and liaison for the UNC System’s space inventory database. In addition, Jay is the interim energy and sustainability manager due to recent staffing shortfalls. He also served part-time as a freshman seminar instructor, responsible for classroom instruction ensuring students are successful at UNC Pembroke and beyond. He joined the UNC Pembroke "Braves Team" in February 2014 as the campus’s first sustainability director and chief sustainability officer before transferring to PDC.

Prior to serving at UNC Pembroke, he has 17 years of experience as a project and program manager, maintenance supervisor, sustainability and energy manager. This included a six-year tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force overseeing maintenance, training and unit combat readiness. He is certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP), the U.S. Green Building Council as a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP BD+C), the Green Building Initiative as a Green Globes Professional (GGP), as a volunteer, the State of North Carolina as a firefighter (Level 1 & 2) and licensed EMT. He has a Master's Certificate in Project Management and holds degrees in Architectural Technology (A.A.S.), Criminal Justice (B.S.) and Human Resources Development (M.A.).
