What is nih bridges program?

NIH Bridges program is a National Institute of Health (NIH) funded program to bridge minority students with interests in the biomedical sciences from community colleges to four year university programs to pursue a baccalaureate degree.

The specific aims of this project are to address the under representation of minorities in the field of biomedical sciences, especially in view of their relative numbers in the southeastern region of the state. The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and its community college partners have designed a Bridges program to address these needs.
