WNCP-TV, the broadcasting arm of UNC Pembroke, has a new studio set, and if you can judge an organization by its teamwork, this project got an “A+.”

Cox Field at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke was dedicated April 4 on a perfect afternoon for baseball.

With an assist from a light breeze, Sammy Cox Jr. tossed out the ceremonial first ball, and the scoreboard was unveiled with a new nameplate. The naming rights were the result of a $75,000 gift to UNCP’s Campaign for Football and Athletic Excellence from Sammy and Onita Cox.

Young minds were put to the test March 30 at the 2006 Math Contest at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (view winners | photos).

The competition is for middle and high school students in algebra I, algebra II and geometry. Winners advance to regional competition for the opportunity to compete for state honors.

After a quarter of a century, the science fair experience is still fun and remains an important piece of science education, according to students and educators.

The 25th annual Region IV Science Fair was February 18 at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Almost 200 students participated, including several students of Fayetteville Academy science teacher John Harbison.

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke received a $266,962 NC QUEST grant to improve the quality of instruction for students with disabilities and for students in English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. The goal is to train teachers and school leadership.
