A biotechnology research and training facility and a planned Center for Entrepreneurship cleared major hurdles with the Board of Trustees of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

In an October 6 special meeting, the trustees approved hiring an architect for the 5,000 square-foot laboratory. Located next to UNCP’s Regional Center for Economic, Community and Professional Development at COMtech, it will be used for undergraduate training in biotechnology.

Basketball has always been an important part of Carl Peed’s life.

From his days in high school and throughout his adult life, he has enjoyed being on the court. During a recent pick-up game Peed teamed up with his boss, former U.S. Attorney General, John Ashcroft and Asa Hutchinson, former Under Secretary at Department of Homeland Security, to take on the opposing team.
