Pembroke veterinarian David Brooks along with other local veterinarians have been generously giving for several years to a veterinarian scholarship at NC State University.

At 15, Chris Blue is mapping his future as an engineer.
To reach his goal, he plans to take advantage of a new 3-plus-2 dual degree engineering program through UNC Pembroke and N.C. State University.
The 3-plus-2 program was announced during a ceremony on the N.C. State campus earlier this month. Blue attended along with 40 university leaders, trustees, administrators and faculty from both schools.

This year it was the staff and non-teaching faculty’s turn to share in the spotlight.
“Welcome to the first-ever Staff Awards and Recognition Ceremony,” Dr. Robert Canida said, addressing more than 200 university employees seated in the Givens Performing Arts Center earlier this year.

Nursing graduates at Sandhills Community College will receive a guaranteed $1,000 scholarship if they pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing at UNC Pembroke.
UNCP Chancellor Robin Gary Cummings and SCC President Dr. John Dempsey signed a formal agreement last month, launching the Pembroke Pathway Nursing Scholarship.
Beginning in August, the scholarship will be awarded to any SCC nursing graduate who enrolls in the RN-BSN program at UNCP.
