Robin CrumpRobin Crump’s pursuit of a postgraduate degree at UNC Pembroke was met with hardship and adversity.

Her business courses were a breeze.

It was a string of personal tragedies that proved to be Crump’s toughest test. She earned her Master of Business Administration degree in December 2016.

A Pembroke couple is honoring their mothers through separate endowed nursing scholarships at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

The mothers of Jeff and Susan Maynor spent their lives caring for others. Susan’s mother, Margaret Connell, worked as nurse for 42 years, crisscrossing the country with her military husband.

A retired Air Force brigadier general and an expert in military satellite communications have been appointed to the board of trustees at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Allen Jamerson, a two-time UNCP graduate, and Mary Ann Elliott, a Lumberton native, are the newest members of the board of trustees. UNC Pembroke recently recognized its professors and lectures during the annual Faculty Appreciation and Awards Banquet.

Faculty were applauded for their role in the advancement of higher education and dedicating their time and talents to students and scholarship.

A former cardiothoracic surgeon, Chancellor Robin Gary Cummings lauded the faculty as the “heartbeat” of the institution.
