UNC Pembroke and East Carolina University officials signed an agreement on June 24 that is the first step for establishing a stand-alone Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in Pembroke.

UNC Pembroke’s nursing programs continue to prosper. In June, the university was notified by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) that the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program earned accreditation for an additional 10 years and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) for five years.

Student-athlete Sam Miles continued to add honors to an outstanding college resume. A soccer player and a May graduate, he capped his Pembroke career by being named the Peach Belt Conference’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
In two speeches on May 21, UNC Pembroke’s Chancellor-elect Dr. Robin G. Cummings said the university that most influenced his life was The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Dr. Cummings grew up in the shadow of Old Main, and for him, it represents the opportunities that only education can provide.
