Athletics Department officials at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced in late July that they have signed an agreement with Adidas that will outfit all 16 Braves athletic teams. A German multinational company, which has been long been identified by its famous three-stripe logo, Adidas is one of the world’s top manufacturers of athletic shoes, clothing and accessories.
Braves fans are in on the deal too. In the coming months, Adidas gear, including sideline apparel, coaches' polo shirts, hats, jerseys, performance apparel and outerwear, will be available at the UNCP Bookstore, as well as select local retailers.
The agreement includes promotional merchandise for each team, incentives for postseason accolades, in-venue signage sponsorship and discounts off retail pricing. The agreement will also increase the strength of the UNCP Braves brand, said Dick Christy, director of UNCP athletics.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with a brand as strong as Adidas,” Christy said. “Their commitment to support all 16 of our teams speaks volumes about the work that our coaches have done over the years and the bright future for #BraveNation.”
Five UNCP teams – women’s basketball, football, softball, tennis, volleyball – donned Adidas apparel during their 2013-14 campaigns, but the new deal will provide shoes and apparel for all 16 teams beginning with the 2014-15 athletics season.
