UNCP scores well in U.S. News ratings
The University of North Carolina at Pembroke ranked high in several key categories of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges and Universities 2009.”
The publication, which is popular for comparing colleges and universities, was released on August 22. U.S. News ranks colleges and universities on a wide range of data concerning faculty standards, peer assessment, selectivity of admissions, retention rates, alumni support and quality of student body.
Another notable ranking was alumni giving at UNC Pembroke. With 15% of alumni giving back to their alma mater, UNCP ranked 25th of 118 master’s granting institutions in the South.
Chancellor Allen C. Meadors said the U.S. News and the Princeton Review ranking, released earlier in August that placed UNCP among the best Southeastern universities, are similar to past years.
Dr. Meadors stated that the University is proud to offer one of the best undergraduate education and college experiences in the nation and at one of the lowest costs to students in America. The University’s small classes give every student the opportunity to exceed and flourish.
“It is important that a prospective student visit an institution and make their decisions from what they see and experience, if possible,” he said. “We are pleased with our high rankings in several categories and feel that these rankings reflect well upon the University.”
