Board Chair Carl Meares Jr. made the presentation.
“This is a mere token of our appreciation for all you do to make this a great University,” Meares said.
Barbara Meadors supervised the remodeling and expansion of the Chancellor’s Residence to accommodate a wide variety of University events. She hosts a variety of University functions from the Alumni Holiday Drop-in to the Back-to-School social for all employees.
“We couldn’t do this without the extraordinary efforts of our First Lady,” Meares said. Barbara Meadors said she couldn’t do it without the help of many others on campus.
“I could not do this without the help of many people on campus, including Physical Plant, Housekeeping, Sodexho Food Services and Events Planning,” she said. “They carry out the ideas I come up with.”
The resolution was framed and read:
“WHEREAS, Barbara Jane Lentz Meadors has unselfishly served The University
of North Carolina at Pembroke as its “First Lady” since July
1, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Barbara has demonstrated her love and enthusiasm for this
University, and is recognized and appreciated for her efforts to
promote the campus through her generosity to students, faculty, staff,
alumni, and friends; and
WHEREAS, Barbara has diligently encouraged the incorporation of our surrounding
communities into the life of this University; and
WHEREAS, Barbara has graciously opened the doors of the Chancellor’s
Residence, hosting hundreds of events over the past six years for
the benefit of the campus and local community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that The University of North Carolina
at Pembroke hereby honors and expresses its gratitude to Barbara
Jane Lentz Meadors for her outstanding service to the University,
its students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends and for her loving
dedication to the betterment of the Pembroke community.”
