Nursing Program is Accredited by CCNE
The Southeastern
North Carolina Nursing Consortium, a joint program between The University
of North Carolina at Pembroke and Fayetteville State University, announced
receipt of accreditation for 10 years from the Commission of Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE).
"The consortium
nursing program is the first in North Carolina to obtain CCNE accreditation
and the faculty, and staff of the consortium would like to say thanks
to all the health care agencies and all community resources who helped
make this possible," said Dr. Virginia Wirtz, consortium director.
"We are very pleased at this important milestone in the development
of the program."
Started in 1992,
the program offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree to students
on both campuses. This unique program is the first professional nursing
program offered in North Carolina designed exclusively for registered
nurses.
