Makes Contribution to UNCP

ArvinMeritor Inc.
recently made a contribution of $1,000 to The University of North Carolina
at Pembroke. The gift is part of a series of annual contributions from
the plant located at the nearby Laurinburg-Maxton Airbase.
"In the communities
that are home to ArvinMeritor facilities, we seek to weave together
human and financial resources in partnership with local, private and
public agencies to achieve measurable improvements in the quality of
life," said Ann Krontz, human relations director for the plant.
"All we ask is the university use our gift for its most pressing
needs."
Chancellor Allen
C. Meadors thanked Ms. Krontz and the company for its support of UNCP's
mission.
"We are very
pleased to have good corporate partners like ArvinMeritor," Chancellor
Meadors said. "We have a number graduates employed at the company,
so it's a great relationship."
The local facility
assembles transmissions and clutches for trucks and employs 223 workers.
Headquartered in Troy, Mich., ArvinMeritor purchased the former Rockwell
manufacturing facility at the Airbase industry park.
