The Lady Braves softball team split their two game series with Flagler on April 12.

The Black and Gold won their first game 4-3 then tied the series with their 3-1 loss.

Game one

The Lady Braves slid past Flagler 4-3 in their first game of the day.

This game broke a three-game losing streak for the Black and Gold.

Flagler led the game 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning until Brea Hartley homered down left center field to earn her two RBI’s in the competition for the Black and Gold.

Whitney Jackson and Morgan Davis earned an RBI a piece for the Black and Gold.

Megan Hillard scored off of Davis’s groundball in the top of the fourth to make it a tie game.

The Lady Brave’s ended the game in the top of the seventh inning thanks to Jacksons bunt single and Karlee Wilsons run.

Maddy Murphy notched three RBI’s and a home run for the Saints.

Katie Saunders faced 25 batters and struck out five, while the Saints Haleigh Corbally faced 30 and struck out six.

Game two

The Lady Braves led the game 1-0 for three innings until a homer by the Saints Malloree Escue led them to a 3-1 victory.

In the top of the third inning Taylor Gerhart earned an RBI, Jamie Johnson advanced to third base on a throwing error, and Whitney Jackson scored the one and only run for the Black and Gold.

The bottom of the fourth inning is where Flagler found their second wind.

Escue hit a two-run homer, while Murphy scored behind her to make the score 2-1.

Their last run was earned by Mackenzie Conley to end out the weekend and the series with a 3-1 win for the Saints.

Saunders struck out five batters while the Saints Katelyne Smith only struck out four in competition.

The Lady Braves led in hits 8-6 but it wasn’t enough to win the series.
