Dr. tracy wiggins
Tracy Wiggins is coordinator of the percussion program and assistant
marching band director at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
He has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the HARTT
School, University of Hartford. Dr. Wiggins holds a Masters Degree in
Percussion Performance from the University of New Mexico and a Bachelors
Degree in Music Education from Oklahoma State University. He has done
post-masters work at The Ohio State University. Dr. Wiggins performs as principal timpanist for the Fayetteville Symphony and principal percussionist for the Florence Symphony and the Carolina Philharmonic.
Dr. Wiggins's varied musical interests are reflected in his performance
credits, ranging from The Santa Fe, New Mexico and Alabama Symphony orchestras,
steel drum and ethnic drumming ensembles, to chamber and solo performances
throughout the United States. He has performed with the Black Gold and
Freelancers drum and bugles corps as well as instructing numerous marching
bands and drum and bugle corps throughout the United States.
His teachers have included Wayne Bovenschen, Michael Bump, Joe Galeota,
Alexander Lepak, Christopher Shultis, Ben Toth, Glen Velez and Nancy Zeltsman.
Tracy has also performed on masterclasses for Evelyn Glennie, Nebosja
Zivkovic and Robert Van Sice. Dr. Wiggins has premiered works by composers
David Macbride, Thomas DeLio, Daniel Kessner, Daniel Davis, Ching-Chang Chen and others.
He is an artist/endorser for Yamaha Percussion, Innovative Percussion, Black Swamp percussion, Evans Drumheads and Sabian Cymbals
Tracy Wiggins is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, Music Educators National Conference, The College Music Society, Kappa Kappa Psi and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
