Dr. elizaBeth Maisonpierre

Elizabeth Maisonpierre, pianist, is Professor of Music, and teaches piano, class piano, and piano pedagogy. She holds degrees from Ohio Wesleyan University (BM 1974), and The University of Maryland (MM 1976 and DMA 1983). Her teachers have included Robert Lawrence, Dr. Stewart Gordon, and Frank Glazer.

In addition to her teaching, Dr. Maisonpierre performs frequently with her husband, Jonathan, as a piano duettist. Their recording project/dissertation from UM was entitled "Twenty-three Sonatas or Sonata-related Works Written in the Twentieth Century for Piano, Four Hands." She was a pianist in the North Carolina Visiting Artist Program from 1978 through 1981, and continues to perform as an accompanist. Dr. Maisonpierre has been recognized three times as one of the University's Outstanding Teachers - first in 1995, second in 2002, and third in 2008.

Elizabeth and Jonathan are the parents of two grown children, Andrea and Colin, and the proud grandparents of Kayla Rowe Fitzgerald. The Maisonpierres live in Laurinburg.
