Pembroke Singers is the most select choir at UNCP. They have up to 24 of the best that UNCP can produce. Under the direction of Dr. Jaeyoon Kim, the choir is open by audition and meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 in the choir room.
In the past, the Singers have four times performed at state conventions of music educators (NCMENC in 1998, NCACDA in 2003, NCMENC in 2005, and 2009), have traveled to St. Thomas and performed at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C. The choir regularly commissions music by new composers. Recent commissions have been by Owen Goldsmith, Paul Bassler and Eric Ewazen and David MacBride.
