Welcome to the strings department website for the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Here you should find the answers to any questions you might have regarding string studies at UNCP. We are a new and growing department with exciting new things occurring every year.
Our string faculty include Megan Murphy Kenny (violin/viola) and Dr. Larry Arnold (jazz bass). Cello instruction is also available upon request. These faculty members lead active performing careers, regularly appearing in recital and with symphony orchestras in North Carolina and beyond. Students in their studios will receive weekly private lessons, perform chamber music in small string ensembles, and have the opportunity to perform with the UNCP Orchestra under the direction of Ms. Kenny.
Audition requirements for the strings department at UNCP are as follows:
· One major scale and arpeggio (two or three octaves)
· A solo excerpt which best demonstrates your ability
For more information, please feel free to contact Megan Kenny at megan.kenny@uncp.edu or 617-276-5629.
