Global Rhythm ensemble

Global Rhythm is the world percussion ensemble at UNCP. The group specializes in concerts featuring music from cultures around the world. The groups repertoire includes music for steel drum band, African drumming ensemble, Arabic hand drumming ensemble, Japanese Taiko drumming, Mexican marimba ensemble and more. This ensemble is open to students throughout the UNCP campus regardless of major, and is especially beneficial to students who might wish to use some of these techniques when they enter the field of education.

The ensemble can also present a special program for use in community and children's concerts. The program features both the percussion ensemble and steel drum band in a program of pieces that display the many facets of rhythm and percussion music from around the world. It is an educational program full of exciting music. This program is available for performances by contacting the department at tracy.wiggins@uncp.edu.
