brass at uncp

There are three main faculty that teach brass at UNCP. Dr. Tim Altman
teaches trumpet, Dr. Terry Roberts teaches horn, and Dr. Joanna Hersey teaches low brass (trombone, euphonium, and tuba). These three faculty members are also active performers. Students in these studios get opportunities to play in chamber music through participation in the UNCP Brass Quintet, the UNCP Trumpet Ensemble, the UNCP Low Brass Ensemble, and other chamber music ensembles.

The UNCP Brass Quintet is a select group of brass players which is one of the most active chamber ensembles in the region. Dr. Altman auditions the members, chooses the literature, organizes the performances, rehearses the ensemble, and plays one of the trumpet parts. This ensemble has played in numerous public schools, churches, recitals, and benefit concerts.

For more information contact Dr. Tim Altman.
