Department of Mass Communications
Degrees

The Department of Mass Communication offers an academic program leading to the Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communication. Students elect to follow one of these tracks:

  • Broadcasting
  • Journalism
  • Public Relations

Each student who enrolls in the program will complete a core of Mass Communication courses – including Introduction to Mass Communication, Writing for the Media, Mass Communication Research, and Mass Communication Law and Ethics – and academic coursework specific to her or his track.

Each Mass Communications major also completes an appropriate professional internship in the field as well as a capstone course at the end of the program.

The faculty encourages students to become involved with The Pine Needle campus newspaper, WNCP-TV, the Universityıs public affairs television station, and our chapter of PRSSA, the Public Relations Student Society of America.
