In the James B. Chavis University Center (1987), named for a Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, the lower level houses the Information Booth, Bert's, dining hall, the Hawk's Nest (a recreation center) comprised of a bowling alley, TV/games areas, and student and faculty lounges; on the second floor are a Commuter Lounge and offices of the University Center, Counseling and Testing Center, The Career Center, Student Life, Student Government Association, Greek Life, Intramurals Program and Assocation for Campus Entertainment.
James. B. Chavis University Center
James B. Chavis
On May 8, 1987, the Board of Trustees of the University voted to name the University Center the James B. Chavis University Center in honor of Dr. James B. Chavis, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs from 1972-1999.
