Note that following this template (Word Document) is part of our compliance with our accrediting agency, NCATE (now CAEP); most of the elements on it aside from the education standards are also required by SACS. Rearrange and reformat at will, of course.
Syllabi for all graduate courses since Fall 2010 are archived in the English and Theatre faculty Blackboard page, under the Graduate Committee's section. Feel free to look over those past syllabi in planning upcoming graduate courses. Be sure to submit your graduate syllabi to the Program Director early in the semester in which you teach your course.
This document was agreed upon by the graduate faculty in the department several years ago; it is generally shared with new graduate students, and is also included on the syllabus template above.
Periodically the Graduate Committee will put out calls for proposals for graduate courses. Please use this form (Word Document) for your proposal, and email it to the Program Director at your earliest convenience. Feel free to consult with the Program Director about recent graduate offerings, or any other questions you might have. Successful proposals are selected by the Graduate Committee; the committee then submits schedule recommendations to the Department Chair, who makes the final decision about faculty scheduling.
Capstone Portfolios and Presentations are evaluated by the Program Director, two other members of the Graduate Committee, and a public school professional. In cases where an unusual number of Capstones take place in a given semester, a member of the Graduate Faculty not on the Graduate Committee may be asked to sit on an evalation panel. The candidate giving the Capstone Presentation may invite guests to the presentation, including faculty not evaluating the Capstone. Those guests will not be allowed to remain in the room for the question-and-answer portion of the presentation, however. For members of the panel, the rubric is here (Word Document).
