Campus Map
Starting with the 2010 Catalogue, both Phase I and II of the MAT program must be evaluated with an electronic portfolio; as of now, all MAT and MA Licensure candidates must also submit the Phase II portfolio. Please consult the Program Director for specific directions, but below are the general directions.
1. Electronic portfolios for our programs are accessed through Taskstream. Therefore all candidates must purchase a license to access Taskstream from the UNCP Bookstore; MAT candidates need to be sure that the license lasts for the time it will take you to complete both phases of the program, as you will need it to complete Phase II. You will find it easier to upload materials as you go, as well.
2. All evidences were developed with a particular course or Capstone product in mind. For course-related evidences, we recommend that you upload the course products from those courses as soon as the course ends, unless the course instructor requires an upload to Taskstream as a course requirement. You can add the implementation materials as they become available.
3. Note that Taskstream does not have the reputation of being easy to use, though people overstate its difficulty. In particular, it is very important that you release materials once they are uploaded, so that they can be assessed. The access code for the Phase II Directed Response Folio (DRF) should be PHASEII; please inform the Program Director if this does not work. Once you have accessed the Phase II DRF, you should be able to upload the necessary files for each Electronic Evidence.
4. When at all possible, it is recommended that you submit files as PDFs. If you use a Macintosh computer, the system print utility will allow you to save any file as a PDF. For Windows users, current versions of Microsoft Office contain the PDF format as a Save As option. For sample student work, transcripts, signed forms, and the like, most scanners will allow you to save in the PDF format; note that black and white scans generally yield more manageable files.
Note: the evidence numbers reflect the extent to which this portfolio extends from the Phase I portfolio of the MAT. MA licensure candidates should be reassured that for them there are no evidences 1-6.
The following table lists the electronic evidences, with more specific directions. You may access the rubrics here (PDF - requires Adobe Reader).

Pedagogical Expertise |
Researched Unit Plan |
This research-based plan will be initiated in EED 5510: The Teaching of Writing; the unit plan will address differentiated learning and exceptionalities along with general curricular issues. It will also demonstrate depth of content knowledge. Candidates will then implement the plan professionally (altered as necessary to match teaching assignments), and will gather action-research data to assess student learning. The initial proposal, implemented unit, action research data, and sample student products will be written up for the candidate’s Capstone. |

Teaching Philosophy |
In the Teaching Philosophy, written once the candidate has finished coursework, the candidate articulates a basis for her or his leadership role as an advanced-licensure educator. This philosophy synthesizes learning and advanced knowledge in English composition and literature, situates her or his position on teaching writing and literature among those of major scholars whose work is referenced in primary sources, and demonstrates advanced skills as a writer through depth of thought, coherent development and organization, and meticulous editing, proofreading, and adherence to the conventions of documentation. |

Note: Specific details here are subject to change as we implement this new program. Submission of materials to this electronic portfolio does not replace the obligation to complete the Capstone Portfolio for both MAT and MA Licensure candidates.
