Messaging Netiquette
- Check to see if
the person is online. "Hi" is a good way to start a conversation.
- Don't write
in all caps. That is considered yelling. Be polite.
- Keep messages brief
and to the point.
- Use emoticons
(short for Emotion Icons) when appropriate; especially to avoid misunderstandings.
- Do not over use
acronyms.
- Use "Away"
messages when you will be away from your desk for extended amounts of
time.
