    Description: Searches the NCJRS web site and the web sites of the agencies of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, and the NCJRS collection of 7,000+ full-text publications.

  • Database: North American Industry Classification System (NAICS)

    Description: The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS pronounced Nakes) is a unique, all-new system for classifying business establishments. Adopted in 1997 to replace the old Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system, it is the industry classification system used by the statistical agencies of the United States. It is the first economic classification system to be constructed based on a single economic concept. Search by keyword to access related codes (these codes can then be used to access data in databases, such as the United States Economic Census. There is a SIC and NAICS conversion feature. The Ask Dr. NAICS feature is also helpful for new users.

  • Database: Occupational Outlook Handbook

    Description: Includes Occupational Outlook Quarterly, Career Guide to Industries, and links to many other Bureau of Labor Statistics publications and research reports. Career information can be found three ways: by typing a specific occupation in a box, clicking on one of the occupational cluster buttons (sales, transportation), or by clicking on the A-Z index, which is detailed and includes numerous cross-references. Entries for individual occupations contain extensive details about the occupation, training and required qualifications, job outlook, earnings, related occupations, and sources of additional information.

    Description: Thomas provides the full text of bills (103rd Congress and after), laws, Congressional Record (103rd and after), most committee reports, and many of the Library of Congress's excellent guides to legislation (formerly produced in print). The latter include "Major Legislation," "Bill Summary and Status," and "Floor Activities" for the current week. Texts of many historical documents are being added, and there are two lengthy guides to the legislative process. Direct links lead from the Thomas home page to Web sites maintained by congressional committees, the Clerk of the House, and the Senate, and pages of links to other federal sites are also maintained.
