All students enrolled in classes at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke are encouraged and are welcome to visit Mary Livermore Library and make use of the resources and services. However, the Library is committed to making sure that students in our distance education programs have access to materials, no matter where they live. Note: distance education students, who also come to campus, must actually retrieve materials from the Library.
If the Library has the materials that you need, we will mail them to your home address upon request. If we do not have the materials, then Interlibrary Loan Services will search other libraries nationwide to find them.
Help with accessing full text articles online is available at www.uncp.edu/library/ask.html or by phone at 910.521.6656.
Students with disabilities needing document conversion accommodations should submit the Document Conversion Request Form at www.uncp.edu/library/conversion.html.
Books: Use BraveCat, the Library’s online catalog, to search for items (books, videos, DVDs) held by the libraries of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP), Fayetteville State University (FSU) and the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). If you do not come to campus, you can request items in BraveCat by using the Enter Hold Request feature. We will pull the requested items and mail them to you at your home address. You are responsible for mailing them back to the Library before the due date. You can similarly request items from FSU and UNCW. Those items are mailed to UNCP, and we in turn mail them to you – this means that you need to allow for the time that it takes for us to forward the items to you.
If an item that you want is not available at UNCP, FSU, or UNCW, then you will have to use the interlibrary loan process. More information about interlibrary loan services is available at http://www.uncp.edu/library/loan.html.
Articles: The Mary Livermore Library provides access to over 100 web-based electronic databases, including both state and federal documents. Much of this information is available online, however, you will also come across citations to articles (citations do not include the full text but provide important identifying information, such as author, title, and publication information). If an article is available at UNCP, contact the Reference Desk via at refdesk@uncp.edu, by phone at 910.521.6656, or by fax at 910.521.6547. We will photocopy the article and either fax or mail it to you.
If an item that you want is not available at UNCP, FSU, or UNCW, then you will have to use the interlibrary loan process. More information about interlibrary loan services is available at www.uncp.edu/library/loan.html.
Other Materials: Reference books, government documents,
and special collection materials cannot be used outside of the Library.
However, we will make photocopies of relevant pages from these type materials
and either mail or fax them to the student. Students requesting information
from these types of resources should contact the Reference Desk at refdesk@uncp.edu by phone at 910.521.6656, or by fax at 910.521.6547.
