library fines & notices

Course Reserves have fines of $1.00 per loan period. No grace period is granted on reserve materials.

Overdue library media equipment, including laptops, DVD players, and MP3 players, incur a rental charge of $10.00 per loan period.

Overdue notices are generated and mailed out daily. Three notices are sent to the patron requesting the return of overdue items and/or payment of outstanding fines. Items which are not returned after the third notice will automatically be listed as lost and the replacement charge(s), including a non-refundable $15.00 billing fee, will be placed on the borrower's account. Media and best sellers are billed 10 days after the due date. Books are billed 21 days after the due date. Please direct further billing inquiries to the Circulation Desk.

A $5.00 fee is charged for a damaged book, if it can be repaired in-house; $10.00 is charged if the book has to be rebound. The current or original price of an item is charged to replace a lost or severely damaged item. If a price is not available, then a replacement cost of $50.00 is charge. A non-refundable $15.00 processing fee is also charged for each item replaced. Fines will not be added to the replacement cost. A comparable replacement copy, acceptable to the Library may be substituted for the lost item. If a replacement copy is accepted, the processing fee is still in effect.

Refunds are made available for:

  • Item(s) returned within one year of the date the item(s) was/were declared lost and subsequently paid for, when accompanied by an original receipt; the processing fee will not be refunded; or
  • Item(s) declared lost and subsequently paid for, then later located on library shelves.
**A service charge of $25 will apply for all returned checks.**

Non-payment of fines/fees or improper return of materials will result in suspended library privileges for community borrowers. Students, faculty, and staff will have an administrative hold placed on their academic record, and their library checkout privileges will be suspended.
