FAMILY DAY

Saturday, April 21, 2012

2012 UNCP Family Day will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 1 pm - 7 pm on the University Center lawn. 

Family Day is open and free to all UNCP students, faculty, staff and their families. It will be a fun, social and interactive day to engage with one another and celebrate the UNCP community.

Events include (subject to change):

Carnival Games
Keeping with the theme of this year’s event, there will be traditional carnival games, which will include the Fat Cat softball toss, Roller Bowler, and the always popular test of strength – the Hi-Striker.

Herps Alive – Live Reptile Show
Herps Alive is a hands-on live reptile and amphibian program. Handle any of approximately two-dozen animals - frogs, lizards, salamanders, turtles and snakes

Inflatable Games
Extreme Inflatables will be on campus with three inflatable games where you can have a bouncing good time for kids of all ages! This year’s anticipated inflatables include the Sabretooth Tiger Slide, the Circus Train Obstacle, and the Pony Derby.

Caricatures by Adam Pate
He is one of the fastest caricature artists in the world and has over 20 years of experience accurately drawing and cartooning people, pets and props both live and in the studio. Adam draws more people in an hour than any other caricaturist in the world.

Mike da Roving Guy Balloon Artist
Mike is a Latex Folding Latex Technician (OK, he ties balloons!) and he is one of the country's best balloon artists, with creations limited only by your imagination.

Margaret's "Art on You" Face and Body Art
Margaret is truly an artiste. With her freehand style (no stencils), each piece she creates is literally an original work of art.

Val’s Dog Tags
Different, original, personal. Have (almost) anything imprinted on a dog tag. Wear it around your neck, put it on a backpack or a zipper, or use it as a key chain.

UC Game Room
Free bowling, ping pong and billiards in the University Center Game Room.

Sandy Candy
Layer colorful sand-like candy to create tasty works of art. Sandy Candy comes in a wide variety of flavors and colors!

Make Your Own Buttons
The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership will have their button maker for you to make you very own self styled buttons. Or choose from one of many standards designs – even the official Family Day button!

DJ Music
Local DJ Pierre Locklear will keep the energy high and the event fun by spinning your requests throughout the day.

Food!
What would a carnival be without food?! Stop by the food station and enjoy some carnival-themed food throughout the day. Best of all – it’s FREE!
