REG/POL ##: English Language Institute’s Academic Regulations

 

1. PURPOSE

 

1.1 Students enrolled in the English Language Institute shall be subject to academic regulations specially designed for students without English proficiency that encourage and promote learning and progression into academics.

 

2. SCOPE    

  

2.1 This regulation applies to all international students enrolled in the English Language Institute (ELI).

 

3. ACADEMIC REGULATIONS  

 

3.1 Subject to change at the beginning of a semester.

 

4. COURSE LOAD

 

4.1 Students enrolled in ELI classes will take 18-22 hours each semester as instructed by the ELI director.
 
5. PLACED ON ACADEMIC PROBATION        

 

5.1 Students enrolled in ELI classes must maintain a 2.0 GPA to be in good standing or they will be placed on academic probation.

 

6. ACADEMIC PROBATION     

    

6.1 Students on academic probation must follow the directions outlined in the Probation Letter.

 

6.2 Students enrolled in ELI classes who have been placed on academic probation and fail to show improvement as outlined in the probation letter may be suspended for one semester.

 

7. ADVISEMENT AND REGISTRATION

 

7.1 Students enrolled in ELI classes will be assigned an advisor by the ELI department. The advisor will determine the students’ registration schedule.
