orientation

Orientation is a mandatory informational session that takes place at the beginning of each semester for new students (including undergraduate and graduate, and new transfer students), usually prior to the official start date of academic classes.

These sessions are designed to assist in the transitional period for international students and covers issues related to immigration, academic matters, logistical situations, and a variety of other relevant topics.

As orientation is mandatory our office requests that all new students report to campus at least one day prior to orientation so that you are able to move in to your dorm or apartment, resolve any pressing matters, and get settled.

The session will take the form of a lecture with a question and answer session immediately following the lecture, but any question can be submitted, via email, phone, or fax, beforehand.

The documents you need to bring to orientation are as follows:

  • You should also bring, if you have not already sent, your completed Student Health Form.
  • You will have 30 days from the start of classes to have your health records completed. If you do not have them completed with in the 30 day time frame you will be removed from your classes.

The documents you must to bring to International Programs during the first week of classes (so copies can be made) are as follows:

  • Your I-20 or DS-2019
  • Your passport
  • Your visa (if necessary)
  • and your I-94 card

The following dates are the official arrival dates for UNCP:

  • Friday, August 10, 2012 (12:00 PM)
  • Saturday, August 11, 2012 (12:00 PM)

Transportation from the designated airport (RDU) is guaranteed on the above dates only. If you arrive at Charlotte (CLT) or Fayetteville (FAY) you will be responsible for your own transportation to campus.
