Global COnnection Program Application

UNCP’s Global Connection Program is designed to assist in the safe and educational interaction of our visiting international students with local families. This partnership will enhance cultural understanding and exchange for both the students and families involved. Families participating in the program are encouraged to open their hearts and homes and welcome students to experience the US and all it has to offer. Students participating in the program are encouraged to open their minds to new and fun experiences while sharing their culture with their host family.

Please keep in mind that this arrangement does not mean your family will have to provide long term housing, food, monies, or transportation to your host students[s]. You are encouraged, at your comfort level, to offer an invitation for an occasional dinner, event, outing, movie, outdoor excursion, weekend visit, etc. and likewise participate in campus sponsored events (i.e. athletic games, GPAC events, etc.). Your family and your host student[s] are encouraged to keep in touch for the duration of their stay, via email or phone, so that they will always have the comfort of a friend in the area. You are also encouraged to notify our office if any problems arise so that we can aid in a resolution. Your family is encouraged to offer suggestions of activities that have been enjoyable and beneficial so that our office can share this with other families. You are also encouraged to document, via photos, etc., your experiences so that they can be shared with others. Feel free to communicate with other families and engage in activities together and feel free to invite students who are friends of your host student[s].
**NOTE** Not all of our students are affiliated with a particular religion, not all are open to certain cultural, political, and social discussions, events, etc. Please use discretion with planning activities, meals, etc. If you need suggestions as to the types of activities that would be appropriate, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
