Transportation

Providing transportation for our students, scholars, and visiting delegates is a service International Student Services gladly handles. To the right are the links for the transportation requests.

Departing and Incoming Students, Scholars, and Delegates!

It is your responsibility to know weight limits for domestic and international flights. You should also familiarize yourself with the number of bags allowed as well as the size and shape allowed by the carrier.

Over packing is a common problem among international students and overweight luggage fees are very expensive. Outgoing students in particular have been known to discard belongings at the airport rather than to pay the fines for excess baggage.

Transportation Policy: New International/Exchange Students

International Student Services is responsible for providing transportation to all new students upon arrival in the US. Arrangements for pick-ups will be made accordingly with the proper documents having been submitted by the student. In order for vehicle requests to be made, transportation requests need to be submitted to International Student Services via email, fax, or regular mail at least 10 business days prior to arrival. An email confirmation will be sent 72 hours before the scheduled arrival of the flight to notify the student that transportation arrangements have been made.

Transportation Policy: Current International/Exchange Students

The International Student Services is responsible for initial semester pick-ups and drop-offs. Our office is also responsible for beginning and end of semester transportation, as long as the travel dates correspond with semester beginning and ending academic dates. Transportation for International Student Services sponsored activities is also a service we provide as well as transportation for emergencies. All other transportation is up to each individual student or up to the discretion of International Student Services. All transportation requests need to be submitted to our office at least 10 business days prior to the date of the actual travel. All travel requests will be reviewed and a confirmation will be sent to the student 72 hours prior to travel, via email.

General Policy for all students

International Student Services understands that transportation is an issue for our students and is willing to act accordingly with respect our student's needs. However, International Student Services requests travel requests be submitted appropriately in regard to thoroughness of information and that all requests be submitted in a timely fashion.

International Student Services requests that students whose international flights are delayed or canceled contact the International Programs Staff immediately so that arrangements can be made for a later pick up. If your flight arrives well past the original arrival time it may be necessary to make arrangements to stay at a local hotel near the airport. In these instances the pick up will take place the following morning, before check-out, at the hotel. Contact information for International Student Services can be found on the transportation request from.
