Canoe Trip 2006
This semester we started off our fun with a relaxing trip down the Lumber River. We put in at Stephen's Park and pulled out at the Wildlife Park on Hwy 72. Making two trips meant 20 students could go and more could enjoy the adventure. Germans, Canadians, Taiwanese, and Chinese braved the bugs, low branches, underwater obstacles, and cool water for a look at our splendid local nature attraction and lived to tell about it, although 5 unwillingly witnessed this firsthand as they took a swim in the water.

The 1st group prepares to head down the river. Minhao, Guo (John), China, takes a photo as Natalie Dies, Canada, stands up in the canoe just after we told them this was unwise. Markus Daubner and Thomas Schwer, Germany, look on as they decide who they think will capsize.

Yingyan, Li (Lisa), China, and Beth Carmical practice stopping the canoe to slow down and enjoy the sights.

Caleb Taylor, USA, and SU, Yu-Yuan, Taiwan, pull out for the day after a close call with a wasp nest caused them to take a quick swim. They dried off soon after.

And the winners of "who took an unwilling swim" go to Natalie Dies, Canada, and Donimik Rometsch, Germany. They both saw it coming, but still looked shocked it happened.
