The University of North Carolina at Pembroke offers the opportunity to study at Umeå University, Sweden.

Umeå is often described at the capital of northern Sweden. Umeå is situated 700 kilometers north of Stockholm, 500 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle and close enough to the Gulf Stream to feel its benefits. Established in 1965, Umeå University (24,000 students) has exceeded all expectations proven itself as an important regional and national factor.

  • Sophomore Standing

You are required to submit:

  • UNCP Application for Study Abroad
  • Application for Umeå University (online ONLY, print it out and bring with you to UNCP Center for International Programs). The housing form is included with the main application.
  • Reference Letter
  • Official copy of all college transcripts
  • Copy of passport and medical insurance

You should minimally budget for the following:

  • Passport application
  • Visa requirements/fees
  • Room and board
  • Eye, dental and medical exams, including any recommended shots
  • Travel supplies including sturdy luggage
  • General and prescriptive medications
  • Travel during free time
  • Weekly spending money

Cost

You will pay tution and fees to UNCP. Room and board will be paid to your host country.

Financial Aid

Students can use their financial Aid to pay the costs of a semester or year long program. Contact Bruce Blackmon, Director of Financial Aid, to determine your financial aid eligibility.
