10 Reasons to Study in Sweden:

1) Northern lights (Aurora Borealis)
2) Sweden's greatest musical export

No it's not ABBA, it's Jens Lekman. Jens Lekman is a Swedish pop musician who is from Gothenburg, not Stockholm, which puts him in very good company with the Knife, Jose Gonzalez, and Soundtrack of Our Lives. Stockhom is better known these days for the Shout Out Louds and Peter, Bjorn and John, ear-easy indie acts when compared with the Gothenburg sound, which is spikier, more introspective.

3) Pippi Longstocking: Swedish rebel and role model

All over the world, Pippi Longstocking has encouraged generations of girls to have fun and to believe in themselves. In the process, she has done wonders for gender equality. This year, Astrid Lindgren's controversial storybook character celebrates her 60th birthday.

4) Roxette

The famous pop group, which is also famous in USA.

5) The Nobel Prize - in Sweden and the world

The Nobel Prize is considered the world's most prestigious prize. Prize winning discoveries include X-rays, radioactivity and penicillin. Nobel Laureates in literature have thrilled readers with works like "The Jungle Book"and "One Hundred Years of Solitude". The Peace Prize focuses on efforts to create a more peaceful world.

6) Open Skies, Open Minds

The film Open Skies, Open Minds is a four minute long journey that takes you from north to south and gives you a glimpse of contemporary life in Sweden.

7) The first Swede in Space

Fourteen years after being picked to go into space, Sweden's first astronaut, Christer Fuglesang, has launched into orbit. Fuglesang and his six crewmates on the space shuttle Discovery lifted from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 8:47 PM local time. He is also a honorary doctor in Physics at Umea University.

8) Hennes & Mauritz (Shopping)

Was founded in Västerås, Sweden, in 1947. Today H&M is an international company with more than 990 stores in 19 countries.

9) Marta Vieira da Silva (Soccer)
