The University of North Carolina at Pembroke has partnered with CCIEE and Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications (XUPT) in China to offer a 3-week study abroad program focusing on Chinese history and culture.
Chinese History and Culture (3 credits). Taught by a XUPT faculty member, this
course is intended to enhance students’ knowledge of China in relation to language, art, history, and politics. In addition to class time, students will participate in cultural events in and around Xi'an that enhance their learning experience.
WLS 3300 Study Abroad- Students who successfully study abroad in a University-approved program will be required to prepare a substantive report regarding their experiences while abroad or report on a particular point of interest they may have researched while in a foreign country.

■ Round trip airport transportation on May 11 and June 3. (USA)
■ Round-trip airport shuttle. (China)
■ Round-trip airfare (USA to Beijing/from Shanghai).
■ Meals in Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai.
■ Housing (2 students per room).
■ Chinese History and Culture class (XUPT)-3 credits.
■ Visa (Required for entry in to China).
■ International Health Insurance (Required).
■ Tuition/fees for WLS 3300-Study Abroad.
■ Hotel room at RDU on May 11. Due to the early flight departure, students may want to consider a room at LaQuinta Inn at RDU Airport.
■ Cost for US Passport.
Cost: $2,950 (approximate)
You must have approval from the Study Abroad Coordinator. You must be registered for WLS 3300-Study Abroad (3 credits). Tuition and fees for UNCP Maymester course are not included in cost of faculty-led study abroad to China.

This is an approved study abroad program through the Center for International Programs and may qualify for financial aid. In order to qualify for financial aid a student must be registered for full-time studies (6-credits) in the summer. Most grants, loans, or scholarships should apply to this approved program. Please direct all questions about student financial aid eligibility to the Director of Financial Aid, Bruce Blackmon.
Additional Information:
You will need to have a valid US Passport (not included in cost of program) to participate in this study abroad. Please visit the Department of State website for a US Passport application: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html
China requires a visa for entry. The Center for International Programs will collect all student passports and process your visa as a group. You must have your US passport or have applied for your passport by January 15, 2010. The cost of your visa is included.
Payment Plan:
February 5, 2010- $1,500 deposit due.
March 5, 2010- $1450 balance is due.
Please note that all deposits/payments are non-refundable.
Visa: Students will be required to attend one of the visa application workshops at the IP office. Dates TBD.
All students at UNC Pembroke are eligible to participate in this Study Abroad, provided that they meet the following minimum requirements:
