The State of North Carolina has increased SPA employee vacation leave accrual rates effective January 1, 2011. This is the first change to vacation accrual rates in more than 10 years. The State’s rationale for this change is to maintain competitiveness with other public and private employers in southeastern states and county government.
The chart below reflects the old and new accrual rates.

After the January Monthly Payroll processing is complete, employees will be able to view this change in their January vacation accrual rate in Braveweb by clicking on Employee, then Time Off and Current Balances.
Vacation Leave Eligibility: Permanent SPA employees regularly scheduled to work at least 20 or more hours per week, and who are in pay status for at least one-half of the days in a month, are eligible to earn leave. Permanent full-time employees (40 hours per week) earn vacation and sick leave according to the chart below. Employees who work less than 40 hours per week earn leave on a pro-rated basis according to the number of scheduled work hours each week.
