This plan offers two types of
disability payments:
Short -Term Disability

Employees must have one year of contributing membership service in either TSERS or the ORP and satisfy a 60 day waiting
period after becoming disabled. Benefits are payable for one year. The
monthly benefit will equal 50% of gross salary plus 50% of any longevity
pay, up to $3,000 per month.
Long-term Disability Benefits:
Benefits are payable after the conclusion of the short-term disability
period. The employee must have five years of
contributing membership service in either TSERS or the ORP. The monthly benefit will equal 65% of gross income and
65% of any longevity pay up to $3,900 per month. The benefits are payable
until the employee becomes eligible for an unreduced retirement benefit.
Unreduced benefits are payable at age 65 with five years of creditable
service, age 60 with 25 or more years of creditable service, or 30 years
of creditable service.
NOTE:
Short-term and long-term benefits are reduced if the employee receives
