living and learning programming (2007-2008)

PROGRAMMING MISSION

An important part of a well rounded college experience is a comprehensive residence life program. The mission of the Living and Learning Programming series is to provide residential students with a variety of informative and exciting program opportunities conveniently held within the residence halls. Further, programming is designed to foster the concept of community among all residents residing in on-campus housing. Programs are open to all residential students and are designed to enhance their overall collegiate experience.

PROGRAMMING TRACKS

Living and Learning programs are organized into 6 different tracks. Each track focuses on topics relative to the enrichment of college students. Programming tracks are as follows:

  • Track I - Health & Wellness
  • Track II - Culture & Diversity
  • Track III - Social & Recreational
  • Track IV - College & Career Development
  • Track V - Personal Enrichment & Life Skills
  • Track VI - Motivation & Inspirational

PARTICIPATION AND INCENTIVES

Residents are encouraged to attend programs for educational and enrichment value. Residents are offered incentives in the form of refreshments, door prizes and grand prize drawings to attend as many programs as possible. Each program will provide residents with valuable information, fun activities and food!

Here’s How It Works:

  • Refreshments and door prizes will be available at each program.
  • For every advertised Living and Learning programs attended, participants will receive a “specialty” stamp on their L & L program attendance card. L & L program attendance cards will be available at all Living & Learning programs.
  • Residents attending 10 or more programs will be able to enter their cards into a grand prize drawing for cash prizes of $150 (1st place) $75 (2nd place) and $50 (3rd place) to be held during a end-of-year “Wrap-Up” Social in April. The time and location of the social will be announced.

LOCATION AND TIMES

During the planning and scheduling of living and learning programs, every consideration is given to class schedules and other scheduled campus events to avoid overlapping and conflict. Therefore, the majority of programs are scheduled during the late afternoon hours between 4 pm and 6 pm and the evening hours between 7 pm - 9 pm. Times for programs will vary and the locations are generally but not limited to the residence halls on campus. Program dates and times are subject to change.

Program dates, location, times and topics are listed on the back of this information flyer. Other advertisement will include weekly flyers, university master calendar, electronic marquee, campus-wide emails, the Pine Needle and the This Week. All printed advertisement will be placed in visible locations throughout the residence halls and the Village Apartments.
