Description
This course covers interpreters, assemblers, and compilers. The student will study grammar, languages, syntax, semantics, and BNF. Course material covers parsing, symbol tables, one- and two-pass compilers, and code generation. The course has a programming project.  Credit, 4 semester hours.

Exams and Homework
Two exams (mid-term and final); final exam is comprehensive.  Homework is worth 30% of your grade.

Grading Policy
You are responsible for all material covered in class even if you are absent. The final grade will be a weighted average of the scores in the homework, mid-term exam, and final exam.  Homework is due on Assignment Due Date.  Your grade for that assignment is may decreas by 10% if it is one week late.  If it is later than one week, you may get a score of zero.

68 – 69 = D+
Below  60 = F
90 –  92 = A-
83 – 87 = B

60 – 62 = D-


Attendance Policy
Attendance will be checked. To get a passing grade in the course you should attend at least 90% of the classes. Less than 90% attendance will adversely affect your grade.
