Trochaic Trimeter

Trochaic

A metrical foot composed of one stressed syllable followed by one unstressed syllable.  It is wirtten ( /  u  ) over the cooresponding syllables.

Trimeter

Refers to the number of feet within a poem, "Tri-" means three; therefore trimeter is defined as a verse line of three metrical feet.  The feet are seperated by a vertical line drawn within the verse ( | ).
