Tips for Silhouette Photos
Silhouettes are fun and easy to shoot. Here are some tips:
- Prepare to frame your subject with the brightly lit sky behind the person.
- Then move the subject out of the picture frame.
- Your subject should not be in the picture frame when the camera is calculating the exposure.
- Allow your camera to calculate the exposure based on the bright sky. Point it at the sky, if necessary.
- Recompose your photo with your subject in the frame, but allow the camera to retain the exposure setting it calculated for the sky.
You probably will obtain best results when the Sun is low in the sky, such as at dawn or dusk.
