Summer shoe trends for men and women
By Kelly Griffith

Beach:

For days on the beach, flip-flops are key. Not only are they stylish, but flip-flops are also easy to put on and take off on the sand.

Women will love Nike's 'Celso,' $20, with its flexible rubber sole. The thong comes in three-color combinations, sure to match any bathing suit: pink and white, black and white or green and white.

Also, another option is the Havaianas 'Trekking Brasil,' $11.50, which offers an innovative style to a classic. The flip-flop has an adjustable slingback to guarantee it won't slip or slide as you run on the beach.

Men will appreciate the stability in the vibram rubber sole of Cole Haan's 'Tucker,' $98. The suede and leather give the sport flip-flop a touch of high class that can be used on the beach or around town. The iceberg suede and dark brown color combination is perfect for a day on the beach or a night out with friends.

Office:

Although the weather is warm and your home life may seem more relaxed for a change, life at the office may stay hectic. To cope with the chaos, get creative with their footwear for work.

Peep-toe shoes with a flowing skirt may be just the ticket for a woman whose work attire is stuck in boring-ville. Try the DKNY 'Daria' platform, $198, for an edgy accessory or the 'Impulse Two Piece Sandal' in tan and brown by Fioni, $16.99, for a more professional take on footwear.

The same old men's business suit can get pushed into the shadows in the work place. Liven it up with two-toned oxfords. The classic has been revived for a new spin on summer businesswear. Stacy Adams' Madison in black and white, $95.95, will take you back to the 1940s.
Casual:

Take an adventure or go on a picnic in casual attire. These shoes are sure to be perfect for any occassion during the lazy days of summer.

One of the season's hottest colors for women, citrus green, is making its way into shoe lines everywhere. Women should try Dr. Scholl's 'Flat Out,' $39.95. The rhinestone buckle adds flair to the already-upbeat open-toe flat. Pair this shoe with a tea-length silk skirt or linen capris for the season's laid-back style.

Men should try a dark brown sandal like the Born 'Flagler,' $89.95. The open toe and heel strap work well with khaki shorts to give off the summer vibe. These are great to take on vacation to the shore or the country side.

Night out:

While dancing the night away or just going out for an intimate dinner, you should always be sporting your own style.

Charles by Charles David offers the gold 'Prom' t-strap sandal, $114.95. The three-inch heel shows off the delicate shape of a woman's foot while also tapping into her edgy side with metallic snake-embossed leather. Gucci's ankle-wrap sandals in black plisse jersey, $440, will allow women to make a smooth transition from day to night.

Men need a sturdy shoe with a little spunk. The Cole Haan 'Tucker Oxford,' $135, gives the original oxford a sporty design. The sneaker-like style adds funk to the old, reliable business shoe, making it appropriate for a busy nightlife.
