Opinion by Stanland Bryant
If you've been paying attention to the recent trends in the movie industry, there has been a dramatic increase in remakes.

For some reason it didn't get annoying to me until they remade a timeless classic like Guess Who's Coming To Dinner into a romantic comedy featuring Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac. The premise for the remake is pretty much based on the fact that Mac's character is caught off guard by his daughter's new white boyfriend. Since this is 2005, I think that in order for her to really cause some jaws to drop she should've brought home Ellen instead or better yet Bin Laden.

I respect both of these men in the right environment, but to see them and their poor acting skills unleashed on this movie makes my skin crawl. They both have the combined acting range of a solid brick wall (I apologize to any walls that were offended by this statement).

The original was a poignant look at the dynamics of race relations in America during the 1960's, yet the remake is a perfect example of another feeble attempt from an idea-bankrupt Hollywood to cash in on past classics.

Next thing you know, they'll be casting Paris Hilton in a knockoff of Breakfast at Tiffany's or Wee Man from Jackass as Spartacus. Better yet, why don't we just totally lose our minds and let Flava Flav grace the big screen with his take on Othello.
