It's a Bird. It's a Plane. It's Superman.
Opinion by Allen Barfield

Like many people, I have been waiting for another actor to be able to step up and the don the red boots and cape – sew that famous red S on his chest – and continue the tradition established by Christopher Reeves and those who went before him in the original Superman movies.

Finally Hollywood has listened and is working to bring us Superman Returns.

There has been an explosion of news from the set of Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, including some of the first pictures of the new Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

The film, which is scheduled for release in June 2006, will feature former soap star Brandon Routh as The Man of Steel and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. No story line has been revealed, but some insiders say it will be a cross between the original story line and the current post-crisis comic.

After the release of the first shots of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, many Internet fans were complaining about the choices the filmmakers made. Chud.com went as far as to say that Routh's appointment as Clark Kent ìmakes them negative on the project.

Obviously, the movie is going to live or die on its Superman casting. With this summers unpopular release of Batman Beginnings, many people are fearing Superman Returns also will fall short of the bar set by the original set of movies.

Some fans of Kate Bosworth are complaining that her hair is brown for the movie. As a hardcore fan, I'm complaining that they have chosen to make her hair curly, but that's really minor.

Sam Huntington is picking up the role of Jimmy Olson, photographer for the Daily Planet, and Kevin Spacey as Superman's arch-enemy, Lex Luther, along with his female sidekick Kitty Koslowski, played by Parker Posey

The biggest story of the movie is the re-casting of the late Marlon Brando to play role of Jor-El, Superman's Kryptonian father.
