Will MoviesAskew Spotlight You?
By Allen Barfield

kevin smith Writer and director Kevin Smith wants you to submit your short film to movieaskew.com!.

Smith, who owns his production company, now is trying to give 12 lucky, up-and-coming directors their chance to have their short films seen in a real theater, at a real film festival.

Smith started MovieAskew.com as a place were a new director can submit a short, along with a $25 submission fee, and have members of the site review and vote on how much they enjoyed the film.

The top short every month will go on to be featured in a yearly film festival, along with a DVD.

Every month, five shorts will be chosen to be hosted on Smith's Web site MoviesAskew.com.

A sixth short film will be chosen as a lifeboat, as a wild card. Then, 12 of those will be chosen to be on a Movies Askew DVD and shown at the Movies Askew Festival. The audience will narrow the dozen down to the top five.

A panel of celebrity judges then will crown the Best Short of the Year.

The best short winner will receive a Grand Prize – a Panasonic home entertainment center, a collection of Miramax/Dimension videos, and an apprentice position on the next View Askew film.
