Clement Rosher: same in SL and RL
by Amanda Hickey as Manda Flanagan
When Clement Rosher joined SL, he realized that there was not a news source that he could count on regularly. So, he started forSL.com.

“As I like myself to read news about SL in order to be informed I was thinking it will be a good point to start a service like that .. To get all news over the internet about SL and announce them in one place,” Rosher said.

“Having a news section on our website will be a kind of aditional service along many other.. So, I get involved into this observing that the market doesn't have a Digg.com like news service for SL,” he continued.

He began the site so other SL users could know the environment they are involved in.

“As I am involved in some SL activities it is a good practice to be informed about the environment you are in,” Rosher said.

Business coverage is Rosher’s preference, both in RL and SL. Rosher owns a company involved in e-commerce development in RL, and when he heard about SL he saw an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

“First, I saw the news and I learned about some business opportunities.. As, I am an early adopted in general for new technology .. I jumped in,” Rosher said. “At that moment it was about land transactions but I jumped in to see if there are any other opportunities for RL companies apart for selling SL virtual stuff,” he continued.

Rosher found a lot of opportunities for RL companies in SL.

“Just need a lot of work to develop them and take a little time till people "outside" will start to look at SL as a communication and exchange platform and not as a game,” said Rosher.

However there are some things that Rosher would like to see improved about SL. “The connection between the traditional Internet (www) and the SL system,” is one of those improvements, according to Rosher.

“At this moment SL doesn't offer too many tools to make a connection between regular websites and SL,” he said. “For example, you can't display a website and interact with it in SL.”

According to Rosher, he is the exact same person in SL that he is in RL. He has the same line of work, the same employees, and enjoys the same things.
