Caffeine is a drug that is produced naturally in some plants such as coffee and tea. It is also found in many soft drinks, chocolate and some medications.
Caffeine, an ordinary choice for many consumers, is a stimulant that has some of the same effects on a user as certain illegal drugs have.
Caffeine’s side effects are “remarkably similar to that produced by amphetamine and cocaine,” according to a study Caffeine: A Drug of Abuse? by Roland R. Griffiths and Geoffrey K. Mumford.
To determine if you suffer from caffeine addiction, ask yourself the these questions.
If you answered yes to any of the following questions, you may be addicted to caffeine.
- Do you drink more than one cup of coffee or one soft drink each day?
- Do you ever feel that having a caffeine fix is vital to your day’s routine?
- Have you ever felt tired after consuming a product containing caffeine?
- Have you ever felt sleepy after caffeine consumption?
- When you miss your daily caffeine intake, do you develop a headache?
